Portable Lifts

BMH Ergo Lift
Many of the manufacturers of Ceiling Track Lifts were in the business of personal lifting before the innovation of ceiling track lifts. This particular variety of lifts were and are referred to as roll-around lifts, floor lifts or patient lifters. There is a sub-category of these called sit-to-stand lifters that helps a person do just that. The majority of floor lifts require no assistance from the person being lifted, while the sit-to stand lifts generally require a minimum of strength from the person being assisted.
Roll-around lifts are utilized in many of the same instances as ceiling track lifts. They are intended to safely transfer a person from one location to another, between a wheelchair and a recliner, from one room to another. Because they can be rolled from one space to another, they allow a person to continue to move around their home and participate in daily family events.
Although there are a number of “hand-crank” manual lifters on the market, most people prefer the battery operated/hydraulic rolling lifts for their relative ease of use when compared with the manual version. These lifts work well when used on a smooth floor, ie) linoleum, wood or vinyl. The operator needs a bit more strength when it comes to maneuvering these lifts on carpet. They can be a less expensive alternative to a ceiling track lift if budget is a concern.
