Vertical Platform Lifts

Savaria Vertical Platform Lift
TK Access PCDE Vertical Platform Lift

Need to get up the 2-5 steps to your house, but don’t have the space for a ramp?
Can’t exit the door to get to your car?

Sometimes a vertical platform lift will be the accessibility solution when space does not allow for a ramp built to code and it can be more cost effective as well. Vertical platform lifts are available for both interior and exterior applications.

Some of the most frequent residential uses include;

  • Getting from garage level to entry door
  • Deck access
  • Getting from one level to another

Commercial applications include accessing

  • Performance stages
  • Stadiums
  • Theatres
  • Restaurants
  • Municipal buildings
  • Improving access to existing structures

Depending upon whether the unit is intended for commercial or residential use, some of the safety features can include

  • Battery backup, so you can get to your destination without getting stuck
  • Emergency stop button
  • Optional folding ramp guard
  • Optional Emergency phone line
  • Sensors that will detect an obstruction in the lift’s path
  • Optional remote controls
  • Optional push-button or paddle controls
  • Lift will not operate unless the gate is in the locked position
  • Weatherproof controls on exterior models

Some of the above items are required if the lift is intended for commercial use, and are optional if only being used in a private residence.

All new vertical platform lifts installed by Barrier Free conform to ANSI A18.1 for safety and operation.

Most manufacturers recommend preventative maintenance every 6 months to once a year.

Barrier Free Systems also rents vertical platform lifts for some applications, as a stage lift, for example. There are circumstances where a lift is needed for a short duration, usually 1-6 months or less. If we have a portable platform lift in our warehouse that may work for your situation, that may be the direction for you.
